18th anniversary -- Monday January 27th, 2025

Eighteen years ago, the rescue was established. Since that time, we have had thousands of dogs that have come and gone; some were adopted, some were transferred, and some were just passing through. We have taken in not only dogs but also horses, a goat, a mini pig, some ducks and chickens, several cats, a bird, and a snake. K9 Rescue has been on a mission to help animals, and if we are still here after eighteen years, we must be doing something right. We never strived to be a large rescue, nor have we ever aimed to have millions in our bank account. We have proven after eighteen years that it does not take a lot of money to save animals; it takes TLC and lots of patience. We stayed smaller to help the dogs that needed extra care, and in the last few years, we have taken in many behavioral dogs who might not have had a chance in the system. Not every rescue has the experience to work with them, but after so long in rescue and with the experiences we have combined, we can make a difference in the lives of the dogs we accept. We know we have passed the test when those dogs find new and loving homes and excel in them. We are eternally grateful for every adopter we have for our dogs; they made the difference—we just helped them to that point. We hope to keep making a difference for the dogs. It takes a team, the board of directors, the volunteers and the foster homes.

Yearly Update -- Saturday December 28th, 2024

This has been a successful year for our rescue organization. We managed to take in four dogs from a large-scale hoarding situation in Putnam County. One of the dogs was a pregnant female who gave birth to six adorable puppies, all of whom were adopted quickly. The mother and another adult female were also adopted. We still have two dogs who remain untouchable, but we continue to work on gaining their trust day in the hopes of finding them new homes as well. If you know us, you know that giving up is not in our nature. We were able to adopt out 17 dogs, and it is quite possible that the number will increase by the end of the year. Our adoptions may not be as numerous as before, but this is because we choose to help those who have special needs. We hope you will continue to follow us as we enter our 18th year of operation in January 2025. Thank you for your continued support of our mission.
